Mangalore, 22 Oct 2013: The state government will appoint the presidents for Academies that fell vacant after the regime change shortly, said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr Parameshwar.
Addressing the media persons during the press meet held at District Congress Committee (DCC) office here on Monday October 21, Dr Parameshwar said, ‘The state administration initially will appoint the presidents of various district level Committees and applications will be received to shortlist the applicants in taluk and district by end of November,’ said Dr Parameshwar.
Dr Parameshwar further said that a Committee will be formed with CM and Congress high command to finalize the names for appointing presidents of state level Academies and various Authorities and Boards, added Dr Parameshwar.
When media persons queried Dr Parameshwar about the evaluation of the ministers of their ministerial duties, he said, ‘In order to increase the accountability of the ministers, we are planning for the evaluation. We are currently working on the parameters based on which we can evaluate the performance of the ministers and their respective portfolios,’ said Dr Parameshwar.
Regarding the difference of opinions among the various MLAs’, Dr Parameshwar said that the difference in opinion is common among all the parties and Congress party is no exception for this, said Dr Parameshwar.
On the issue of constructing own DCC building, Dr Parameshwar said the responsibility lies with district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai who will make sure the work commences within a month.
He further said that it is for the first time he is participating in the district executive Committee meeting and hoped to attend the block level meetings as well. The purpose is to make the party workers aware of the programs implemented by both central and state governments, said Dr Parameshwar.
When media men queried over compensation to the areca growers who are distressed owing to crop disease, Dr Parameshwar said that the CM Siddaramaiah has released Rs 20 crore to DK district and compensation of Rs12,000 per acre will be awarded to the affected given to each affected planter, said Dr Parameshwar.
AICC secretary Selva Kumar, DK district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, DCC designated president Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present at the press meet.
