Mangalore, 13 Oct 2013: The inaugural of exhibition and sale of products that are produced by the beneficiaries of Udyogini Project, the members of Stree Shakti self-help-groups, the women entrepreneurs was held at Shanti Church auditorium, Mangala Devi, here on Saturday October 12 at 11.30am.
The three-day exhibition is jointly organized by Karnataka state women development Board, Bangalore and women and child welfare department, Mangalore. The exhibition will conclude on Monday October 14 evening.
The state forests and DK district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai inaugurated the exhibition on the occasion.
The minister Ramanath Rai conveyed best wishes for the exhibition and appreciated the women entrepreneurs in marketing their products at the exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lobo said women play key role in a family, while the self-employed have greater responsibility to balance their business and family life. He commended the women for exploring their entrepreneurial skills in beginning their self-employment ventures.
DK zilla panchayat vice president Ritesh Shetty said that the exhibition in town indeed gives wider market for indigenous products produced by women entrepreneurs and likely to get more sales by word of mouth as they are homemade quality, said Ritesh.
Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo presided the function.
DK zilla panchayat social justice steering Committee chairman Fakir M, DK zilla panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddineni, DK district CSI churches Federation chairperson Pastor Winfred Amanna and J K Fashion proprietor and women entrepreneur Kasturi J Shetty, were present.
Child and women welfare deputy director Gertrude Veigas welcomed the gathering. The development inspector Chandrika Naik compered the programme. The supervisor Poornima proposed vote of thanks.
