Karkal, 2 Oct 2013: The country has not seen such a honest politician, staunch patriot, whose words always followed in his deeds, strong willed to take right decisions in critical situations like Lalbahadur Shastry, said senior teacher B Pundalika Marate.
Pundalika was speaking during Gandhi Jayanti celebrations that was joingly organized by St Joseph’s Kannada and English Medium Schools and Rotary Club International (RCI) – Belman, at St Joseph’s Higher Primary School, Belman, near here on Wednesday October 2 morning.
Mahatma Gandhi was in the forefront in freedom struggle through non-violence means by uniting the countrymen, while Shastry joined in the freedom struggle and became an able PM by inspiring the soldiers guarding the national borders and farmers, by the slogan of ‘Jai Jawan – Jai Kissan’ thereby boosted the morale of armed personnel and farmers towards self reliance. The ideals of Shastry are the greater need that ought to be emulated by the present politicians in our country, added Pundalika.
RCI – Belman designated president Suresh Rao, Bola – Piliyoor RCI community unit speaker Sunil Devadiga, local Convent superior Sr Usha Stella were the chief guests present.
Harshita welcomed the gathering. Shweta Shetty spoke on the significance of Gandhi Jayanti. Sushma R Moolya compered the programme. Fiona proposed vote of thanks.
