Mumbai, 24 Sep 2013: The members of Mangalorean Milagres Society (MMS) celebrated the feast of nativity and new rice day on Sunday, 22nd September, 2013 at the society premises. The program began with invocation and a prayer ceremony led by Fr. Michael Goveas, Parish Priest of St. Andrew’s church, Bandra. Children offered flowers to Mother Mary, a well practiced tradition among Mangalorean Catholics.
“This day is indeed a very special one for all of us, the resident members and the committee has worked hand in hand, just like one family, to organize this celebration. It gives me immense joy to lead from the front” said, Mr. Stany D’souza, the president and the managing committee of MMS. “Every year the members of the society, organize this program, giving an opportunity to all members, both resident and non-resident, Living in Mumbai to unite” Said Benet Cardoza, Committee member of the society. “We never feel like we stay away from home, we are one family”, He added.
Among the other noted people present were Stany D’souza, President; Charles Pereira, Secretary; Nileesh Suares, Mark Olievera, Antony Sequiera, Ashok Sequeira, John Rodrigues, Peter Rebeiro, Benet Cardoza, Jerry Bondel, Agnello D’souza, Vivek Fernandes, Robert D’souza, Vijay Lobo.
Maxwell Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering and compeered the program. Jerry Bondel lead the prayer session. The day ended with dinner served on banana leaves. It ended as a joyful and cheerful day for both the non-resident and resident members of the society.
