Mangalore, 24 Sep 2013: The union minister for road and highways Oscar Fernandes said that there will be a Special Secretary to monitor developmental projects in DK and Udupi districts soon.
He was speaking after accepting memorandum from MLA J R Lobo and Rachana (Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry) at a discussion on Development of Coastal Karnataka held here on Sunday September 22.
The memorandum highlighted various demands including flyover at Nantoor, better exit road at city airport, mono rails, tunnel way at Shiradi Ghat etc,.
Oscar said there are plans to have a tunnel way at Shiradi Ghat using Japanese technology and talks were underway.
To a question of media men, Oscar said the proposed thermal power project at Niddodi will be dropped if the people do not want.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza felicitated Oscar on the same occasion.
