Bangalore, 08 Sep 2013: The feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (MonthiFesth) was celebrated with Konkani mass on 8th September 2013, at St. Anthony Friary Church, Madiwala, Bangalore at 12.00.P.M. Before starting the Mass, Fr. Gabrial Menezes, (OFM-Cap), Vice Provincial blessed the bundles of paddy near church grotto. Children were seen carrying plastic baskets and plates filled with flowers. Children and elders offered the flowers to Infant Mary with much enthusiasm and joy.
After offering flowers all people who had gathered went in a procession to church with singing melodious song “Moriye Kristha Maye”
At church Fr. Praveen D’Souza, (OFM-Cap), Assistant Parish Priest was main celebrant for the Mass. Along with him, Fr. Gabrial, (OFM-Cap), Fr. Jhony Anthony, (OFM-Cap), Parish Priest of the Church, Fr. Simon, (OFM-Cap), Asst. Parish Priest, Fr. Saji, (OFM-Cap) , Fr. Arok,(OFM-Cap), Fr. Augustine, (OFM-Cap), Fr. Sidney(OFM-Cap)celebrated the mass.
Fr. Praveen (OFM-Cap) in his inspiring homily highlighted the role of Mother Mary, how mother Mary brought up with Jacob and Anna, and told the Life and sacrifice of Jacob and Anna. Fr. Praveen said Mother Mary’s three important qualities were “I am the servant of the Lord” “Doing the will of God” and “Obeying God’s right time, not for her own time”. Mother Mary also role model for all the family. Also highlighted the importance of Family.
During the offertory procession children as well as adults brought new vegetables and other items as offerings.
Following the end of the feast mass, Rev. Fr. Jhony Anthony,(OFM-Cap), Parish priest extended the greetings of the feast to all parishioners and thanked all Konkani Catholics in the celebration of the Monthi Festh.
The new paddy and sweets was distributed to the parishioners by the members of Bangalore Konkani Catholic Sang (BKCS)
After the mass, Sugar cane was distributed to all the people who had gathered for the Mass.
