Kuwait Canara Welfare Association Celebrates Monti Fest

Kuwait, 09 Sep 2013: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), in association with Konkani Community of Holy Family Cathedral here celebrated Monti Fest on Sunday September 8.  KCWA celebrated Monti Fest for the successive twenty-fifth year.

 

Bishop Camilo Ballin, the vicar general Fr Mathews and clergy Fr Anthony Lopez, Deacon Sylvester and visiting priest Fr Joel D’Souza blessed the new paddy-sheaves on Sunday at 4.15 pm amidst a huge gathering of people followed by procession to the Church for festal Holy Mass in Konkani.

 

After the Eucharistic Celebration, traditional Novem Jevan/fellowship dinner was served to thousands of devotees gathered on the occasion.

 

 

Fr Antony in his message appreciated KCWA’s efforts in helping the needy people back home and in Kuwait and for bringing together thousands of people for traditional family dinner on the occasion of Monti Fest.

 

Over 3,500 gathered to savor the taste of traditional Mangalorean Monti Fest dinner. The food was prepared by M & M Confectionery, Kuwait.

 

KCWA President Anil Fernandes welcomed the gathering.  George Santhumayor co-ordinated the programme.
