Udupi: St. Lawrence College Moodubelle students shine at Dasara Sports (2013-14) Events

Udupi , 19 August 2013 : Four students of St. Lawrence College, Moodubelle won medals and certificates at the Dasara Sports (2013-14) events organized jointly by the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Youth Empwerment and Sports Department of the Karnataka State, Karnataka States Sports Authority and Udupi Taluk Panchayat  on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at SMS College Grounds, Brahmavara.

 
It is a matter of surprise that in one event, Discuss Throw, three students of the College, Deryl Mathias, Sachin Shetty and Lionel Pereira won First, Second and Third positions respectively. In Triple Jump, Sharun Raj secured Second position.

 

 
A brief function to felicitate the winners of the Dasara Sports (2013-14) was held in the College premises on Monday, August 19,2013 at 11.30 am.  Ivan Menezes, co-organizer of the Mercy Trophy Cricket Tournament felicitated the students by handing them over the certificates. In his message, Ivan Menezes appreciated the achievements of the four students and encouraged them and other students to develop their sporting skills along with their academic achievements.

 
Speaking  further, Ivan Menezes said that last year the Mercy Trophy Cricket Tournament had sponsored  the fees of some of the  economically  weak students and this year too he assured  that similar sponsorship would be provided to those students who find it extremely difficult to pay their  college fees  due to financial difficulties.

 
Mrs. Sarita D’Souza, Principal of St. Lawrence College welcomed Ivan Menezes with flowers, Mr. Nagesh, lecturer of Commerce compeered the programme.  All the members of the teaching staff and students were present for the felicitation programme.
