Abu Dhabi, 17 Aug 2013: A grand 67th Independence Day celebrations were held at the India Social and Cultural Centre on Thursday evening with loads of entertainment and cultural shows. The celebrations were held jointly by Abu Dhabi Malayalam Samajam, Kerala Social Centre, Indian Ladies Association and Indian Islamic Centre. All the associations presented each cultural event on the occasion.
A patriotic welcome song was rendered by members of India Social and Cultural Centre.
Mr. SatyaBabu (ISC Hon Gen Secretary) welcomed the audience and the dignitaries present and he then invited Chief Guest Mr. AnandBardhan(Counselor, Community Affairs, Embassy of India) and ISC Hon President Mr. Joy Thomas John. Mr. John felicitated Mr. AnandBardhan with a floral bouquet. The presidents of all the associations were also invited to the dais and introduced by P. Sathyababu.
Mr. Joy Thomas John delivered the presidential address wherein he highlighted the sacrifices done by our great National leaders to achieve independent from the British Raj.
The Chief Guest Mr. AnandBardhan in his speech highlighted the various achievements of our Nation even the current economy is low, the situation will definitely improve and India will forge ahead with a most advanced and developing countries in the years to come. He also highlighted the bond between India and U.A.E and said that U.A.E. is India’s biggest trading partner.

Following the brief stage show one hour cultural show was presented by all the associations.
A wonderful Patriotic dance was presented by the students of St. Josephs School followed by a Patriotic song sung by Abu Dhabi Malayalam Samajam and a musical play by Kerala Social Centre.
The members of Indian Ladies Association rendered a wonderful melodious Patriotic Song “ Aye Mere WatanKe Logo “ followed by Patriotic Dance by Indian Islamic Centre.
However, the highlight of the Independence Day celebration was a wonderful Short Play “ A Tribute to the freedom fighters “ was beautifully presented by members of ISC and applauded by the audience. The play presented the struggles and the sacrifices and the important roles played by great leaders to achieve hard fought freedom namely by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, LalBahadurShastri, BalaGangadharaTilak, Gopal Krishna Gokale, Subas Chandra Bose, Maulana Azad andBhagat Sing.
At the end of the play the entire audience stood and paid tribute to these leaders and sang the National Anthem with great national feeling.
