Bantwal, 19 July 2013: Carmel College, Modankap, near here celebrated the feast of their patroness Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Foundation day at the college auditorium, here on Monday July 15.
Tuesday July 16 was marked with triple celebrations: The feast of our Lady of Mount Carmel; the Foundation day of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation (1868) and the Feast day of the college.
The programme began with a prayer dance seeking God’s blessings on all gathered for the celebration followed by a short skit on the significance of the Foundation Day of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation and on Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Kung-fu and Karate (Chinese martial arts, colloquially referred to as kung fu) and folk dances.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Fr Maxim Noronha, parish priest of Infant Jesus church, Modankap advised the students to be like Mary in their dealings with others. He encouraged them to emulate her qualities like humility, purity, helping nature, gentleness, respect and obedience. He also appreciated the good work done by the nuns of the Apostolic Carmel in Bantwal and very specially for providing quality education to the children of our society.
Sr Gloria, superior of Carmel Convent and joint secretary of Carmel College, Modankap; Sr Maria Roopa, administrator of Carmel College Modankap; Sr Latha, vice principal, Rnglish lecturer Praveen were present at the dais.
Commerce lecturer Melwin V Felix welcomed the gathering. Ashline Clerita Lobo compered the programme. Joselyn proposed the vote of thanks.
