Udupi, 15 Jul 2013: Ivan Prashant D’Silva of Holy Family parish, Brahmavar, near here was elected as first president of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of Udupi Diocese for during the elections held at Milagres Cathedral Tri-Centenary Hall, Kallianpur, here on Sunday July 14.

Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo presided the function here on Sunday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Dr Gerald said that youth should develop leadership qualities and should lead our society very well. Whatever impossible should be possible for youth. Our youth should take more importance to become IAS, KAS or top governmental services rather than doctors and engineers. Already 3 diocean youth are undergoing training for IPS. More youth should think about these professions. Further he said that youth should take more responsibility in our society.
NRI entrepreneur Frank Fernandes, Udupi diocese cathedral rector Fr Stany B Lobo, ICYM Kallianpur deanery director Fr Fredrick D’Souza, Fr Udupi diocese Social Development Commission director and resource person Fr Edwin D’Souza, directors of Youth, ICYM, YCS, YSM - Udupi diocese, Mangalore diocese ICYM president Sheldon Crasta and other were present on the dais.
