Kundapur, 2 Jul 2013: The former CM D V Sadanand Gowda urged the people to oppose the proposed amendment to Panchayatraj Act by Congress led state government.
Gowda was addressing the agitating members of gram panchayat led by Kundapur BJP block Committee in front of taluk office, here on Monday July 1.
Gowda urged the Udupi district-in-charge minister to convince the assembly on the seriousness of the protest against the proposed amendment, as it would curtail the role of gram panchayat members, urged Gowda.
A rally was held from BJP office till the taluk office here and a memorandum was presented to Kundapur Tahsildar to forward the same to CM Siddaramaiah.
The former minister Srinivas Poojary, BJP district president Uday Kumar Shetty, block president Kishore Kumar, chief secretary Rajesh Kaveri, Kundapur former councilor K Mohandas Shenoy, youth morcha president Shankar Ankadakatte, vice president Pratap Shetty, minority morcha president Abdul Sial, Koteshwar Shakti Kendra president Ravindra Dodmane, council member Satish Shetty and others were present at the occasion.
It was significant that only a handful of general public were present during the meet that was addressed by the former ministers D V Sadanand Gowda and Srinivas Poojary. The loyals of the BJP rebellion Halady Srinivas Shetty who won the recently held assembly elections as independent candidate from Kundapur legislative constituency did not attend the meet. It has proved how the people make belittle of those ministers who are now just like them without any authority at their disposal.
