Moodubelle, 27 Jun 2013: Swaroop, 16 years, eldest among two sons of Sadashiva Acharya and Mamatha of Kandiga, Moodubelle had been suffering since childhood due to a hole in the heart. The doctors had assured that gradually with the growth of the boy the hole would heal and he can live a normal life. However, the heart condition of Swaroop deteriorated since October 2012 and he was admitted to KMC hospital, Manipal. The cardiologists of the hospital found out that the size of the hole in the heart had increased and suggested that Swaroop should be taken to Narayan Hrudayalaya, Bangalore for further check up and necessary corrective surgery.
Meanwhile tragedy struck the family as the 6 years old Sushant, younger son of Sadashiva Acharya, who was the student of first standard in the Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle was diagnosed with Blood Cancer (Leukemia). He was treated at the KMC Hospital, Manipal and Kidwai Hospital, Bangalore. However, in spite of all efforts, Sushant passed away on 29 March 2013.
Having lost the younger son and elder son having heart complications, Sadashiva Acharya did not know what he should do. Eventually, he took Swaroop to Narayan Hrudayalaya in April 2013 for check up and advice . After thorough investigation and check up, the doctors advised angioplasty as corrective procedure to rectify the heart condition of Swaroop.
As Swaroop was studying in the tenth standard in St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School and had to appear for the SSLC examinations, the operation was postponed.
After the examination, on the advice of the doctors, Sadashiva got Swaroop admitted in the Narayan Hrudayalaya on 28 May 2013 and on 29 May 2013 angioplasty operation was undertaken. The total hospital bill that Sadashiva Acharya had to pay was Rs. 1,27,000/- Being a carpenter and having no other sources, Sadashiva Acharya had to take loan to treat Swaroop which he is required to repay within short period.
Late Sushant
Sadashiva Acharya has made an appeal through Bellevision to generous donors to help him by contributing whatever amount they can so that he can repay the money that he had borrowed to treat his son, Swaroop.
Swaroop is now quite well. He passed SSLC examination with 65 percent marks and has taken admission in St. Lawrence PU College for First Year PUC.
