Exemplary ’Shramadhan’ in Udyavara

Udyavara, 27 July 2010: The villagers and local organizations who were worried about the bad condition of the Udyavara-Pithrodi Road jointly undertook the repair of the road on Sunday, 25 July 2010.

As if to wake up the local representatives of the people, village Protection Committee, Rickshaw Owners and Drivers Association, Udyavara Yuvaka Mandala members along with the villagers repaired nearly 5 kilometres stretch of road. They filled the craters with broken tiles, soft mura-stone and mud so that the vehicles can move without much difficulties. This is a temporary solution as the administration and people’s representatives have not been paying any attention to the problem of the damaged road. It was the women who took up the lead in organizing the ‘shramadhaan’.

The leadership to the ‘shramadhan’ was provided by Vijaya Kumar, Pratap Kumar, Sudhakar Kotian, Mohan Salian, Vithala Jattan, Santosh, Vinod. Sumathi and Poornima.
