Sharjah, 29 May 2013: The eleventh anniversary celebrations of Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah and annual conferring ceremony of Mayura Award will be held at Evan Hotel ballroom, here on Friday May 31.
Ryan International Group of Institutions managing director Mangalorean Grace Pinto will be the chief guest of the occasion. It has schools in 15 states across India and 120 schools worldwide managed by Karnataka origin brave lady Grace Pinto from Dakshina Kannada district.
Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah was founded in 2003 under the banner Sharjah Indian Association. Since then, it has been doing yeomen service in promoting Kannada and its distinct culture in the oil rich emirate, by organizing picnics, children’s drawing competition, Mayur Cup for throw ball tournament, men’s volleyball tournament, sports meet, Kannada musical concerts, health camps, blood camp and pro Kannada activities for the benefit of Kannadiga expatriates working in different emirates across UAE.
Sudhir Kumar Shetty bags Mayur Award – 2013
Mayur Award – 2013 will be conferred on Sudhir Kumar Shetty, CEO of UAE Exchange that has offices in 150 countries worldwide, one amongst world renowned 150 banks, 9,000 workforce comprises 40 different nationals, serving over 6 million customers, which signifies the business acumen of Mangalorean Sudhir Shetty.
The coveted Mayur Award was instituted at the leadership of Karnataka Sangh – Sharjah founder president the late Umesh Nantoor in 2004. The renowned NRI B R Shetty inaugurated the first conferring of award ceremony.

The dance troupe of Bangalore based Nataraj Dance Academy will stage variety cultural shows throughout the day on Friday May 31, besides comedy play, folk dances, mimicry etc for the delight of Kannadigas in the emirates.
