Moodubelle, 13 May 2013: The generosity of the Bellevision readers who had responded wholeheartedly to a plea from Karunakara Panara, the father of a four months old child Prem Panara suffering from a severe heart ailment diagnosed as ‘Atrial Septal Defect-Regressed Left Ventricle Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension” requiring urgent surgical correction has given a new lease of life to the child.
Responding spontaneously to the appeal published in Bellevision.com in the month of February 2013 generous Bellevision readers remitted their donations directly to the account number of Karunakara Panara in the Syndicate Bank branch of Moodubelle which collectively amounted to Rs. 1,30,000/-
Karunakara Panara had earlier taken the child to Narayana Hrudalaya, Bangalore for diagnosis. The doctors had suggested that the child required heart surgery known as “Modified Sennings Operation” to correct the defect which would cost over one lakh of rupees, following which Karunakara Panara approached Bellevision for an appeal for donation as he could not afford such an amount being a daily wage earner.
The doctors in the Narayana Hrudalaya conducted open heart surgery on the child Prem Panara on April 26, 2013. The operation was successful and the child had to remain in the ICU for about ten days. With the recovery of the child Karunakara Panara along with the child and wife Jyothi returned to Moodubelle on May 10, 2013. The child is under treatment for full recovery and will be required to be taken to Narayana Hrudalaya in one and a half month for check up.
Having returned from Bangalore, Karunakara Panara met this correspondent on May 11, 2013 to express gratitude to all the donors and well-wishers for their prayers and financial assistance that was given to him as a result of his appeal in Bellevision.
On its part Bellevision heartily thanks for all the generous donors for responding to the appeal from Karunakara Panara and contributing the amount required for the successful heart surgery of the tiny child who has got a new lease of life.
