Moodubelle, 17 July 2010: A nine days yoga camp organised jointly by the Lions Club of Moodubelle and Jeevandhara Dhyanayoga Centre, Sasthan was inaugurated on Saturday, 17th July 2010 at 4 pm at the Lions Bhavan Moodubelle. The camp will be conducted daily up to Sunday, 25th July 2010 from 4.30 to 7.30 pm.
The formal inauguration of the yoga camp was conducted by Swami Neerav Sanket Dharmasthala by lighting the lamp. Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal of St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle in his ashirvachan said that many times people do not understand the importance of yoga. Further he said that yoga cannot be understood by just reading the literature on yoga or someone telling about it. One has to practice yoga in order to experience it and avail its benefits. Fr. Paul also said that he himself practices yoga and he has benefitted immensely from its practice. He pointed out that in the PU College and High School he has introduced yoga classes for the benefit of the students and teachers.
In his key note address, Swami Neerav Sanket explained the meaning of Jeevandahra and Dhyanayoga and how he got interested in yoga and meditation. He narrated the efforts that he had taken in order to understand and practice this ancient system of maintaining a balance between mind and body. He further said that many of the ailments can be controlled and cured by practicing yoga, control of breathing, diet control and meditation.
The inaugural programme was attended by Fr. Paul Sequeira, Cyril D’Souza- President of the Lions Club, Henry Fernandes-Secretary, Commodore Jerome Castelino, Devdas Hebbar, Benedict Martis-former President, Mario Mathias, President of the Lions Club of Shirva and a number of yoga enthusiasts.
Devadas Hebbar compeered the inaugural programme and introduced the chief guest, Commodore Jerome Castelino welcomed the guests and the gathering and Bebedict Martis proposed the vote of thanks.
