Compensation from the Natural Disaster Fund paid to Srinivas Nayak

Moodubelle, 9 July 2010:  Srinivas Nayak  of Kadambila in Kattingeri who had suffered the loss of a cow and damage to his stable due to lightning and thunder in the early morning of 25th April 2010 was paid compensation of Rs. 10,000/- from the Natural Disaster Fund on Friday, 9th July 2010 in a short function held at 11 am in the Belle Grama Panchayat Office, Moodubelle. Srinivas Nayak received the cheque from the hands of Mrs. Jacintha Aranha, President of the Belle Grama Panchayat.

Besides, Mrs. Jacintha Aranha, the brief function was attended by Mr. Gerald Fernandes, member of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Mr. Ganesh Kulal, the Village Accountant, Mr. Rajendra Shetty, member of the Belle Grama Panchayat, Ramappa Hitthalmani, the Secretary of Belle Grama Panchayat and Jayakara.

The tragic incident of lightning and thunder had resulted in the death of  one of the four cows belonging to Srinivas Nayak in the stable on the fateful morning of 25th April 2010. However, fortunately, there were other three cows and four calves in the stable which were unaffected by the lightening. Due to the impact of the lightening, the stored hey insi de the stable got fire. But  the presence of mind of Srinivas who took immediate step to extinguish the fire caused by the lightening saved considerable amount of  the hey.
