Karkala, 8 July 2010: Pradhan Archak of Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple of Nakre in Karkala Taluk, Vedamurthy Sri Ananta Padmanabha Bhat passed away in his own home near Mahalingeshwara Temple, Nakre at around 12:45 am on Thursday,8 July 2010. He had undergone heart surgery a couple of years ago and had recovered. Last night, after his dinner, he got a major heart attack while watching television and breathed his last.

Vedamurthy Sri Ananta Padmanabha Bhat Nakre was 76 year Old. He has left behind his wife, three daughters, all married and only son Ramesh Bhat, who is lawyer by profession in Udupi. Cremation rituals were held at his residence in this morning, where large numbers of people were present.
