Udupi,14 Mar 2013: The civic poll outcome has unraveled interesting aspects. It was the opportune time for BJP that has faced utter defeat, in order to have introspection, what led to failure. Chiefly, Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat has to take introspection on his shortcomings, ahead of contesting in the forthcoming legislative assembly elections.
BJP candidate who contested from Karamballi ward where MLA Raghupati lives was defeated by Congress candidate Celina Karkada.
Congress candidate Prashant Bhat who contested from Muduperampalli, the neighbouring ward of MLA Raghupati defeated BJP candidate Ramesh Nayak with a margin of over 770 votes.

BJP candidate Vasant Shetty who contested from Ambalapady ward defeated Congress candidate with a narrow margin.
BJP faced utter defeat in stronghold of Karamballi, Kadiyali, Kunjibettu, Sagri, Perampalli, Kakkunje and Gundibailu ward that lies in the neighbourhood of MLA Raghupati Bhat.
Congress bagged 4 seats in 5 wards of Malpe, while its during the last polls, BJP won in all 5 wards.
BJP district secretary Ravi Amin who contested from Bannanje ward failed to win for the second time in this poll. The rebellion Harish Ram Bannanje who contested as independent candidate defeated Ravi Amin.
MLA Raghupati Bhat’s personal assistant Suvardan Nayak who contested from Indrali ward was defeated by Congress candidate Ganesh.
Congress candidate Janaki Shettigar and Meenakshi Madhav won the civic polls for the successive third time, while Cogress candidate Amruta Krishnamurti, BJP candidate Mahesh Takoor and Dinakar Shetty won the polls for the second time.
Despite BJP has given tickets to contest the polls to new candidate, at stronghold wards of Badagubettu, Saralebettu, Manipal,Kadiyali, Kunjibettu and Indrall, Congress won the polls in all the wards except Manipal.
The former municipal councilor Anandi who contested as independent candidate faced defeat by Congress.
The municipal councilor Kiran Kumar of BJP did not contested the civic polls in his Badagubettu ward, making easier for Congress Vijay Poojary.
