The response in Moodubelle to the All India Bundh call given by the opposition parties to register protest against the move of the Central Government to raise the cost of the petroleum products has been quite effective as the township presented a deserted look with shops and hotel closed and rickshaws, taxis and buses being off the road.
The educational institutions are also closed as the students could not come to their respective places of learning as there were no buses or other modes of transport. However, branches of the three banks in Moodubelle-Canara, Karnataka and Syndicate were open, but without any customers.
With incessant rains from the night, the bundh has come as a pleasant relief to the school children and college students as they can remain at home and enjoy their favourite pastime of viewing television or surfing the internet. For office goers also it is an extended week-end following the holidays on Saturday and Sunday.
