Moodubelle, 27 June 2010: During the Golden Jubilee celebration of St. Lawrence High School, Moodubelle, certain projects were introduced for the benefit of the students, especially the needy students so that they can continue their education. Among these projects, the Needy Students’ Fund is considered to be quite significant.
As there are a number of needy students who are economically poor. These students have to be helped financially if they have to persue their studies further. Although It is not possible to meet all their requirements, still some of the requirements could be fulfilled by providing them some kind of help.
It is an imperative fact that education secures the future to a student. With proper education, a student can build his career and be a productive member of the family and a responsible citizen of the nation. If a student is not helped at the the right time he or she will give up education and this will irrepairably harm their future. Thus, the institution has taken the responsibility to share some of the burden of needy students so that a ssuch students should not feel that they have no one to help when it is needed the most.
Since the last three years, Bellevision has been helping the needy students by contributing around Rs. 40,000/- every year. The institution is ever grateful to Bellevision for this generous contribution. However, to ease the annual burden of Bellevision, on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of St. Lawrence High School, it was decided to raise a fund for the needy students. The amount that has been collected in this fund is being deposited in the Bank in Fixed deposite (FD) and out of the interest on these FDs the reasonable requirements of the needy students would be met.
Many old students have passed out of the portal of this institution and today they are in a position to help the less fortunate and needy students who look forward for such help. Even with small contributions the Needy Students’ Fund can swell to a considerable size so that out its interest the needs of such students can be met year after year with the corpus fund remaining intact.
Out of the annual interest on the funds thus collected for the needy students some of their requirements can be met. These include: Concession in Fees, Uniforms, Midday Meal, Computer Fee and Books.
A number of generous donors have already contributed considerable amount towards the Needy Students’ Fund. These donors are:
Mr. Pratap Chandra Shetty, Palemar - Rs. 10,000/-,
Mr. Joel D’Sa, Moodubelle - Rs. 10,000/-,
Mrs. Pearl Mendonca & Ms. Patricia Lobo, Moodubelle – Rs. 25,000/-,
N.N. - Rs. 50,000/-,
PTA and OSA, St. Lawrence P.U. College – Rs. 1,00,000/-,
Mr. Philip DSouza, First Rank holder, Qatar – Rs. 3,40,000/-.
The institution and the needy students are grateful to these generous donors for being considerate towards the less fortunate ones and pray the Almighty God to bless them, their families and their work.
It is hoped that this Needy Students’ Fund would grow further by the generous contribution of the old students and well wishers so that more of the needy students could be helped in future in fulfilling some of their educational requirements.
