Udupi, 19 Jan 2013: The sleuths on Friday January 17 brought 3 persons from Bangalore who were accused in kidnapping and murder case of RTE and Congress activist Vasudev Adiga, a resident of Kokkanabail that comes under the limits of Vandaru gram panchayat, near here. The taluk court here granted police custody for one-week.
The arrested has been identified as thirty-years-old Naveen, thirty-one-years-old Umesh and thirty-years-old Raghavendra, all residents of Banashankari in Bangalore. These three men have criminal background and are believed to be hired killers. Further interrogations by the police will reveal the motive behind the murder and information on key accused.
Vasudev Adiga was kidnapped a few kilometers from his residence located in Kokkanabail in Vandaru village at 8.30pm on January 7. His motorcycle and mobile was found besides the road from where he was kidnapped. Meanwhile, his dead body was found in a water-pond at Yemmedoddy village of Kadoor taluk, in Chikmagalur district on January 12. His hands and feet were fastened and dumped in sixty-foot deep water-pond by tying a boulder. The brutality of men involved in the crime proves they are professionals.
The sleuths questioned a few government officials, entrepreneurs and contractors who were subjected to RTE by activist Vasudev Adiga without a success. The sleuths checked on the mobile numbers that has led to them to nab the accused in Bangalore.
Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah informed the media that the information on key accused will be released by Monday January 21.
Kundapur DySP Yashoda S Vantagody, Udupi DCIB inspector Praveen Nayak, special investigation squad sub-inspector Mahesh Prasad, Kundapur circle inspector Manjunat Kavari, Gangolli sub-inspector Sampat Kumar, Shankaranarayan sub-inspector Dejappa, Kota sub-inspector Ashok and others are interrogating the accused.

He stressed the need to nab the kingpin behind the murder and put in jail to serve lifer. It’s a challenge to police and warning to those who threaten RTE activists.
