Bahrain, 04 Dec 2012: Bellevision held its annual sports day at the Soccer grounds, Sar recently. The pleasant weather with mild blowing wind and an awesome opportunity to be out on the open grounds with the family with a sporty mood.
Participants were all divided into three teams. “Red, Blue and Yellow”. The teams were represented with respective color flags. The special attractions of the event were our cute little cheer leaders and hostesses. Opening prayer was led by Rashmi Fernandes. President Kishore D’Souza welcomed the gathering. In his address reminded the motto of Bellevision Bahrain – “striving for togetherness”. With due respect to the Kingdom, the National Anthem of Bahrain was sang.
The President then released a white dove as a sign of peace. Safety instructions were given by Joel D’sa. Sports Secretary and the main event coordinator Steevan Lobo officially marked the opening ceremony with a ball throw. Ivan D’souza compered the event. And the lively music by DJ Shaun.
The games were played one after the other as per age groups and teams. Keeping in mind the age groups, accordingly the games were played for boys/girls, men/women. Individual winners were selected and also the points were accounted for the teams. The venue with green grass carpet facilitated the teams to play well and all took active participation. The games played were: picking up chocolates, run and catch the parents, 70 mtr. race, 100 mtr. race, shotput throw, dog and the bone, sack race, tonka, tennis ball throw, lagori, football throw, 3 legged race, football kick.
Veera Fernandes and Nirmala Sequeira were in-charge of the master score list and announcements along with commentary from Thomas Fernandes. The registration counter was managed by Vincent Martis and Nirmala Fernandes. Sports secretary Steevan Lobo and Joel D’sa conducted the games with steady support from their volunteer team members.
Team Yellow scored the highest points, followed by team Blue and team Red. Our well-wishers Edward Noronha and Nelson Alva were present for the award ceremony. Individual winners were presented with medals and team Yellow was presented with the rolling trophy. Secretary Pramila Martis delivered the vote of thanks and the event concluded with the National anthem of India.
Scrumptious lunch and morning breakfast was arranged by Udupi Palace restaurant. And the soft drinks were provided by Walter Lobo. The event and the games were so beautifully organized that it reminded all of us of our school days. Friends were talking about their school sports experience in and around Moodubelle school grounds. It was yet another successful event by Bellevision Bahrain to mark in the calendar for the coming year.
