Dubai, 30 November 2012: U.A.E. Ministry of Information and Culture and the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, in association with Radio Spice presented a spectacular Goenchim Noketram (a Goan Folk & Musical troupe) on Thursday Night at Sh. Rashid Stadium Dubai. This cultural event titled: Harmony 2012 Celebrating Friendship was organized under the leadership of Herman Lewis of Radio Spice 105.4 Dubai.
The main objective of the event was to unit all communities under Harmony especially two main Konakani community Mangaloreans and Goans.
The mega show began at about 8:0pm with the introduction of Brass band and followed by a beautiful dance presentation of ever green hit Havn Saiba Poltodi Vetam (Dekhni) a beautiful folk dance.
The main co-ordinator of the show Herman Lewis welcomed the special guests presented on the occasion Cultural secretary of Indian Embassy Abu Dhabi, Mr. Counsulate General of India and many other dignitaries and sponsors present on the occasion. He also thanked them all for their presents and also thanked all the sponsors for the generous contribution towards the event in such a short notice, and especially Ronald Colaco, a well known entrepreneur of Dubai followed by Lighting of traditional lamp and oath took place.
Ronald Colaco spoke on the occasion and said it is an opportunity to all Goans and Mangaloreans to come together home away from home and part of the Harmony and friendship. He concluded his note saying that “ Hermon has brought Harmony today” All the guests were felicitated with floral bouquets and honoured and also Certificate of appreciation were distributed.
After the brief stage programme, wonderful goan songs and traditional dances were performed namely: Sobit Amchem Goa, Fugdi dance, Novelty Dances, songs, Tribal Gaudi Dance, Portugese Dances, Kharvi Dances, Medley, Baila, Mando and several Konkani lovely solo and duet numbers entertained the crowd totally and left a memorable mark about Goan folk, Culture, Language and tradition.
The entire cultural show was conducted emcees of the day Ms. Preethi and Mr. John from Goa.
