Dubai; 23 November 2012: The much awaited and much anticipated Olivera Nite organized by SMMKC Sharjah rocked the Konkani community of U.A.E. The melodious Wilson Olivera Nite was held at Sh. Rashid Auditorium which was house full and had to organize additional seating arrangement to accommodate all the crowd.
Roshan D’Silva a prominent member of SMMKC Sharjah and famous MC of U.A.E welcomed the audience in his usual Konkani style and conducted the welcoming ceremony and felicitation of sponsors and media persons.
The grand event began with a prayer song/dance invoking God’s blessing beautiful presented by tiny tots followed by main sponsors of the event were felicitated and honoured. Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty – Chief Guest of the day, Walter Nandalike – Chief Editor Daijiworld were felicitated by SMKC committee members Alfred D’Souza), Mark Denis D’Souza, Lawrence D’Souza, Jochim Menezes along with Uttam Menezes chief coordinator and former President of SMMKC. Roshan D’Silva introduced all the sponsors to the audience. All the sponsors and media persons were honoured with floral bouquets.
Lawrence D’Souza (SMMKC – President of St. Michael Konkani Community Sharjah) delivered the presidential address and welcomed the chief guest of the day Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty and all the sponsors. He said that SMMKC was started before two years and this is the first time the event was organized outside Sharjah i.e in Dubai insisted upon and initiated by First President of SMMKC Uttam Menezes and he appreciated his efforts in organizing and coordinating the entire event.
Walter Nandalike also spoke on the occasion and appreciated SMMKC for organizing such a great event and that too all out sold and full house. He said when legend singer Wilfy Rebimbus passed away, there was a question who will lead after Wilfy Rebimbus but Wilson Olivera has filled his gap and his voice too is very similar to Wilfys voice. He wished Wilson and his team all success.

Today I have good financial backup and I don’t want any profit but I want to contribute to all community charitable noble causes be it a Hindu Muslim or Christian.
Mark Denis D’Souza was felicitated on the occasion of receiving the Rachana award and honoured with Traditional Shawl by Dr. B.R. Shetty, Flower Bouquet and memento by Walter Nandalike. Roshan D’Silva highly spoke of Mark D’Silva quoting beautiful words from late Konkani Writer/Novelist.
Emotional Mark Denis D’Souza thanked whole heartedly for their kind gesture for honouring him and also thanked esp. Dr. B.R. Shetty as this is the second time he was honoured by Dr. B.R. Shetty. He also narrated how the Sharjah Parish began 1971 by a Italian Priest and how SMMKC began under the leadership of Uttam Menezes. In response Uttam Menezes also a well known MC of U.A.E. and Gulf Region appreciates support from all members of SMKC and especially the sponsors. He also said the money which is derived from today’s program will be contributed to the charity needs of Konkani Community in Mangalore. He also thanked all the sponsors, audience, organizers, members of SMKC and esp. Dr. B.R. Shetty for attending as Chief Guest.
It was the much awaited moment for the grand entry of Wilson Olivera. “Punvecho Charem”, was the first song beautifully rendered by Wilson Olivera followed by another famous Konkani singer Ronald D’Cunha wonderful song Moja Jivant accompanied by dance by Ocean Kids of Dubai. Zena Pereira very famous Konkani singer who has sung many Konkani CDs sang in her golden voice Yore Tu Yo to a thunderous applause. Yet another well known singer Ratan Castelino from Dubai sang Motinth Ek Asha – Nisha.
Wilson Olivera’s brother Ronald Olivera conducted the entire singing session of Wilson Oliver and troupe and in between he cracked a few hilarious jokes and entertained the audiance.
Memory Comedy Group, Mel lu, Moras & Richa had the audience rib-tickling comedy and kept the audience happy all through the program.
Mogachi Laranha group singer Preema D’Souza rendered Pauxilea Disaso Vell wonderfully followed by a song based on current situation of Clergy by Wilson Olivera Naveekaran.
A brief felicitation to Wilson Olivera was conducted by Roshan D’Silva. He invited Mark Denis to felicitate by a Shawl, Joachim Menezes offered Flower Bouquet and Uttam Menezes Fruit Basket and Alfred and Lawrence felicitated Wilson with a memento. Wilson was grateful for SMMKC committee members for honouring and thanked the audience and this is the 4th time he has visited and have presented his musical nites here in Dubai and it was your constant support that brings me here.
A new CD Pack of Wilson’s was released titled Six-Mix by Lawrence D’Souza which contains all six CDs including five released earlier.
The two nephews of Wilson Pradeep and Prashant sang a beautiful song in honour of their mother “Mamma”. This song was composed by Wilson on his sister passed away a few years ago.
Thereafter memorable and melodious songs by all singers followed namely: Bombaychem Chedum (Rony D’Cunha), Tum Sorxim astana (Wilson & Preema), Tum Chedum Konachem?(Prashant Pinto), Chandhe Udelam (UAE Fame singer Joseph Mathias), Tuka Moje Khatir (Rony & Zeena), Sahaek Vigar (Nisha Lobo), Ghadta Kithem (Wilson, Rony & Rathan) Ashmita (Pradeep), Havn Tujo Mog Kortam (Rathan & Zeena), Ubghon Bogtha (Wilson & Zeena), Oh Mojea Bhangara (Rony D’Cunha), Konkangar (Wilson and Group).
The music was provided by Adrian Gomes especially flown from Kuwait and accompanied by Ramiro Mascarenhas and lovely dances were presented by Ocean Kids Dubai choreographed by Vinod Sequira.
The Feat Beat group choreographed by Arun Lobo entertained the audience by their wonderful dance to medley songs by Wilson and all singers at the end especially artists flown from Mangalore.
