Udupi, 08 June 2010: Six persons suspected to be transporting stolen goods to be sold to the prospective buyers who had parked their white WagonR car (KA19-Z7825) in front of the Udupi Tourist Hotel were arrested by the Udupi District Crime Branch Commissioner Ganesh Hegde with the help of the crime branch officials on Saturday, 5th June 2010 at around 5pm.
The six apprehended smugglers are: driver Rohna(24), Venkatesh (35), Sanjay Aithala (36), Austine (24), Bhaktavatsala (54) and Devaraja (52). Following the arrest of these six persons, the police took into possession six mobile phones, two scented Kasturi balls and a panchaloha head of an idol.
These six persons are charged under the law for the Protection of the Wildlife (1972) as well as various sections of the IPC: 41(1) (D) 102 CRPC and 379 IPC. The entire operation of apprehending these criminals was conducted under the supervision and direction of Commissioner of Police, Pravin Madhukar Pawar and additional Commissioner Venkateshappa with the help of other police officials: Satish Ballal, Damodar, Mahabala Shetty, Narayana, Dinesh Shetty, Udaya Kumar, Ratnakar, Vamana, Manohar Udyavar, Abdul Qadar and others.
