Kundapur: Varado level singing competition for women draws enthusiastic participation

Kundapur, 01 October 2012: Kundapur Varado level women’s singing competition which was held on September 20, 2012 in the Junior College Hall, Kundapur drew enthusiastic participation. Mrs. Jacintha D’Souza , Varado level Presient of Stri Sanghattana welcomed the guests. Treasurer, Mrs. Vinaya D’Costa honoured  the guests with flowers. Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Vishal Lobo wished well for the competitors and said that such programmes would help in promoting  Konkani Culture.

 

The participants in the Varado level competition were those who had been the winners at the parish level competition. In solo singing  Mrs. Juliana D’Souza od Pius Nagar Parish secured the first place, Mrs. Glanish Lewis of Sasthan Parish second. In the group singing the  first position was shared by  Mrs. Suvarna Almeida and Group of Kundapur as well as Vailankani Group. Mrs. Lidwin Almeida and Group of Thrasi secured second position.

 

 

The Dean of Kundapur Varado, Rev. Fr. Anil D’Souza after distributing the prizes to the winners appreciated the participation of various individuals and groups in the singing competition and impressed upon the competitors that participation is more important than winning.

 

Sr. Ophelia from Brahmavar, Nancy Lewis from Udyavar and Alwyn Fernandes from Udupi  were the judges for the competition. Fr. Pravin Martis, Principal of the Junior College was on the dais along with other dignitaries. Mrs. Janet Banz proposed the vote of thanks and Shaila Almeida compeered the programme.
