Kuwait, 22 September 2012: In a closely contested Gulf Voice Mangalore -Season 3 two Kuwait Konkani singers Lavina Praphulla D’Souza and Orson D’Souza made it to the finals in a glittering ceremony. The grand singing contest was presented by Youth Recreation Centre, Rising Stars on Friday, at the American International School, Maidan Hawalli, Kuwait
The program started at 5:30pm with lighting of the lamp by well-known Konkani personalities namely John Paul Fernandes (Entrepreneur), Walter Nandalike (Daijiworld), Lawrence Pinto, Louise Rodrigues, Rita Rodrigues and Wilson Saldhana
The glittering and most prestigious GVM-3 started with a prayer and welcome dance was performed by Ms.Sonal D’souza. Well-known Compare of the day Uttam Menezes, a multi-talented, multi-lingual MC of UAE was especially flown from Dubai for the occasion welcomed the crowd and all the guests and introduced The Gulf Voice of Mangalore, its existence, purpose and wished all the contestants good luck.
All the 12 semi-finalists were escorted ceremoniously to the stage along with judges of the day Mr Ivan Sequeira, Mrs. Babita D’sa and Mr. Adrian Gomes.
The main sponsor and President Lawrence Pinto welcomed the audience and thanked the sponsors and supporters.
Then was the time for the audience to enjoy the beautiful singing rendered by wonderful singers. The contestants who participated in the semi-finals were Cynthia Mable Pinto, Renuka Cutinha, Renita Raina D’Mello, Marina Samson Veigas, Lolita Fronteiro, Laveena Praphulla D’Souza, Roshan Olivera, Jossy D’Cunha, Orson Albert D’Souza, Marcus Denis Almeida, Royston Joseph D’Almeida and Rilson D’Souza.
It was one of the most memorable nights for the Kuwait Konkani audience as they savored the wonderful singing by these golden voice singers for two hours. It was indeed a very tough and tightly held contest. But judges had to decide on just two winners.
When the contest was over all the participants were honored with mementos by judges Adrian Gomes, Babita D’Sa and Ivan Sequeira. Also the donors, sponsors and ex-judges were honored on the occasion for their support to the GVM. Walter Nandalike was honoured for his continuous support to GVM from its existence. The judges too were honoured by the organizers. All the sponsors and supporters were presented with mementos in appreciation and were felicitated with floral bouquets.
The specialist comedians Mr. Jerry Rasquinha and Joseph Pinto (Duje)especially flown from Mangalore had the audience enjoying their rib-tickling comedy show.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Rita Rodrigues.The clock was tickling and the heart beat of all the contestants and the moment all were eagerly waited finally came. It was a breathless moment and all held their nerves when the winners were declared by Uttam Menezes. When the winners of the day Lavina Praphulla D’Souza and Mr. Orson D’Souza declared the crowd cheered and applauded. It was a grand site to watch, music, light and sound and the crowds rapport simply fantastic. The winners were honoured with winners sash, flowers and trophies by Lawrence Pinto and Walter Nandalike.
The finalists will now compete with their counterparts from other GCC countries such as U.A.E., Qatar, Bahrain, Muscat on October 19, 2012 at Doha - Qatar to contest for the most coveted title of ’Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ Season-3.
The entire show was wonderfully conducted by emcee of the day Uttam Menezes, he had wit, fun and had the entire audience under his control and did a marvelous job such a grand prestigious Gulf Voice of Mangalore.
The entertainment was also provided to the audience prior to declaring winners by local and singers from Mangalore such as Babita and Ivan.
The organizers of the event did a marvelous job by holding this event in clinical precision and professionally. It was indeed a most memorable day for the Kuwait Konkani audience for very long to cherish..
