Philosophers’ day celebration at St. Joseph’s Seminary Jeppu

Mangalore, 20 August 2012: The feast of St John Berchmans the patron saint of philosophers was celebrated at St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu Mangalore. On the eve of feast a prayer service was conducted in the seminary chapel. Br Ashwin Aranha along with philosophers led the prayer service. A documentary video on the life history on St John Berchmans was highlighted during the prayer service. This special documentary video was the out come of the direction given by Br Ashwin Crasta and the combined effort of the philosophers and seminary priests.

 

 

        
  The festal Eucharistic celebration was held on 13th August in the seminary chapel. The seminary Rector Very Rev Fr Joseph Martis was the main celebrant along with spiritual director Rev Fr Baptist Menezes and human formation director Rev Fr Joachim Fernandes con-celebrated the mass. Philosophers conducted the liturgy of the day devotedly and creatively.

As a part of the celebration of philosophers’ day, a cultural program was held on 15th August in the evening. The brothers of philosophy section manifested their exuberant talents through various cultural items. Rev Fr Peter Paul Saldanha  the chief guest of the cultural evening, called upon all the seminarians to imbibe the qualities of St Berchmans and to give greatest attention to slightest inspiration and told us to live a positive life like him. The whole seminary enjoyed the creative cultural evening and certainly it brought joyous tidings to all.
