Moodubelle, 19 July 2012: Vanamahotsava was observed in Jnanaganga PU College, Nellikatte on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 3.30pm. The programme was inaugurated by Manjunatha, Zonal Forest Officer, Udupi. The programme was presided over by Katapadi Shankar Poojary, President of Udupi Zilla Panchayat. K.Mohan Hebbar, Administrative Head of Sri Laxminarayana Temple, Kabbinalewas the chief guest. The programme was also attended by T.V. Rao, Honorary President, Gopikrishna, president,U.L.Bhat Principal, Suresh Shetty, Treasurer and, Prabhakara K.S, Director of JIC Co-Operative were present.
Speaking at this occasion, Shankar Poojary said that if one cuts one tree, he should plant two saplings and look after them till they grow. He also appealed the students to grow vegetables in home gardens. He pointed out that cutting forests and trees has resulted in scanty rainfall.
The programme was compeered by Miss. Keerthi Bhat, Principal U.L. Bhat welcomed the guests and Prabhakara K.S. proposed the vote of thanks.
