Moodubelle, 22 June 2012: A meeting of the ICYM was held on Sunday, June 17,2012 at 9 am in the parish hall under the presidentship of Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes to transfer responsibility to the new office bearers. Fr. Paul Sequeira, Alphonse K. Alva-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council and Maxim D’Sa former office bearer of ICYM were also present for the programme.
The new office bearers for the year 2012-13 are: Kevin Britto (President), Joy Martis (Vice President), Alwyn Lobo (Secretary), Glen Joy Alva (Treasurer), Royston Alva (Sports Secretary) and Noel D’Souza (Liturgy in charge).
The ICYM in Moodubelle parish originated on April 13, 1974 as CYM when late Rev. Fr. V.G.F. Rego was the parish priest. During 2011-12, the ICYM had undertaken a number of activities. The office bearers for the year 2011-12 were: Royston Alva (President), Alwyn Lobo (Vice President), Vineeth D’Souza (Secretary), Arwin Lobo (Assistant Secretary), Glen Joy (Treasurer), Jeson Castelino (Sports Secretary) and Kevin Britto and Maxon Castelino (Varado Representatives).
During 2011-12 the motto of the ICYM was “To lead, To Serve and To Shine”. The chief activities of the ICYM during 2011-12 included observation of the Teachers’ Day on second Sunday of September; Talents Day on September 8; participation in the Blood Donation Drive organized by the Catholic Sabha during the first week of December; auctioning of cake on Christmas night for Rs. 10,000/- a part of the amount was given to St. Lawrence High School to sponsor the midday meal; putting up of tableaus with Christmas theme in the neighbourhood; organization of stall during the parish feast in the first week of January 2012; rendered service as volunteers during the Kavitha Fest-2012 on January 8, 2012 at Monnu Master Matov in Kattingeri; and worked as volunteers during the NSS Camp held by the students of St. Mary’s College, Shirva.
