Udupi, 18 June 2012: In order to bring transferency in the Police department and to punish those who repeatedly violate road traffic rules, the Blackberry mobile plan has been implemented in Udupi and Kundapura cities from Friday. With the successful curbing of road traffic violators in Bangalore by implementing the Blackberry mobile since 2005, this plan has been extended to other districts also.
Accordingly Udupi district has been issued with 8 mobile handsets and mini printers from Blackberry company, which will be used by SI and ASI level Polie Officers and has been allotted to Udupi and Kundapura having mobile Police units. From now onwards the case will be filed against the traffic violators through these mobiles with details. Vehicle number, Driver’s name, registration details etc. will be recorded in the data base centre in Bangalore and accordingly the further legal action will be taken.
This system which is implemented to monitor those who repeatedly violate the road traffic rules, the license of the drivers who violate the rules 3 times will get cancelled immediately. Therefore the public must pay attention on this plan and must cooperate with the department, said Police Superintendent Dr. Boralingayya M.B. upon initiating this plan of Friday.
It has been decided to install CCTVs at the traffic junctions. The pictures recorded in these cameras will be monitored in the control room and cases will be filed against the violators using these pictures as the proof. This system will be implemented within 3 months, said SP.
There has been objection from the Municipality on the traffic signals already installed, hence they have been deactivated. This will be again brought to the attention of the Municipality and necessary measures will be taken to activate them again.
In the inaugural program DySP Dr. Prabhudeva Mane, Circle Inspector V. Girish, Traffic SI Amanulla and others were present.
