Chicago, 11 June 2012: Dr. Austin Prabhu, a veteran lion leader and community activist in Chicagoland was installed as a District Governor for District 1-A, Mother District of Lionism for the second time. This ceremony was held at the Aviana Banquet Hall, Palos Hills today. Past International Director Daniel O’Reilly installed Dr. Austin as Governor.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Austin told the lions present that there is nothing impossible in this world if we place our acts together and work as a team. Great achievers like Niel Armstrong, John F. Kennedy had the same motto – Nothing is Impossible in life. They did not achieve their goals by themselves; a strong team of hard workers made this happened. In the coming year I will be seeking your help to prove that in District 1-A nothing is impossible. Dr. Austin’s theme for the coming lionistic year is “Nothing is Impossible, Keep Lionism Alive.”
Dave Hansen was installed as a Vice District Governor by Governor Wes Salsbury and Catherine Rondinelli was installed as the Trustee for the Lions of Illinois Foundation by Mike Smigielski. Immediate Past District Governor Steve Anon was the emcee for the program.
Governor Wes gave away certificates and awards for outgoing cabinet members and thanked them for their hard work during his year. Megan Leott, a student from Ohio sang national songs and entertained the gathering with sweet voice accompanied by Soloman on the organ.
