Moodubelle, 10 Jun 2012: Karate has been becoming quite popular among young children not only in the urban centers but also in villages like Moodubelle which is evident by the fact that the Karate training that was started in a humble way back in 1999 by Robert Quadros from Shankerpura has gradually grown and presently 30 students are being trained in the Karate training classes. The students are being trained in disciplined behaviour, physical exercises, mental alertness and defensive tactics.
The Karate Training Course for the year 2012-13 was launched in the Lions Seva Bhavan, Moodubelle on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 4pm in the presence of the Charte President, MJF Lion Commodore Jerome Castelino (VSM) and Dr. Eugene D’Souza, Principal of St. Lawrence College, Moodubelle who is also a member of the Lions Club.
The Karate Training Course is being conducted by Satish Kumar, a graduate from Belle and who is also Assistant Manager in a Finance Company. He is the holder of Black Belt 3rd Dan. He is being assisted by Nagesh Acharya and Vikas Amin who are also the holders of Black Belt. The Karate Trainin Course in Moodubelle has been affiliated to the Institute of Karate and Allied Arts Budokon, World Union of Karate Federation (WUKF).
According to Satish Kumar, who has been training the students in Karate since five years, children from 5 to 15 years or from first standard to tenth standard have joined the Karate classes to get training. These classes are held every Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 6 pm. Due to paucity of space, since this year, the Karate classes are conducted in Lions Seva Bhavan and thanked MJF Lion Commodore Jerome Castelino (VSM), President and office bearers as well as members of the Lions Club of Moodubelle for providing Lions Seva Bhavan with a spacious hall and other facilities to conduct the Karate Training Course.
