Udupi, 04 June 2012: The hearing of the petition submitted to High Court on the additional land acquiring for National Highway 66 which passes through Udupi will be held on June 6th. The meeting of those people who may lose the land was held on Sunday and the information was given during this meeting.
As the petition on the land acquirement for the 60 meter wide National Highway construction was rejected now, the additional 12 petitions have been submitted to another stage, which will be heard on June 6th. It was decided in the meeting that, if these petitions are lost then the justice needs to be achieved in the Supreme Court.
The four lane high way has been constructed with 23 meter width in other parts of the country. In the neighbouring D.K. district the four lane highway has been constructed with 45 meters. But the land is being acquired in Udupi in 60 meter width, it was discussed in the meeting.
In Udupi district, Padubidri, Udupi, Brahmavara, Kota, Kundapura areas the land is being acquired. This is not right, let them aquire only 45 meters, but we will not let 60 meter, it was decided in the meeting. In the meeting Ashok Raj Yermal, Panduranga Kini, Allen Mendonsa, Anand Kamath, Sheela K. Shetty and others participated and conveyed their suggestions.
