Moodubelle, 09 May 2012: Around 70 children, students from 6th to 10th standard enthusiastically participated in the three daylong multipurpose Summer Camp organized from May 7 to 9, 2012 in St. Lawrence PU College Hall. The camp was conducted by Brothers Mahesh, Roy, Ivan and Vijeth under the direction of Fr. Lancy Saldanha. Each of the three days, the camp began at 9 am and ended at 4.30 pm.
The chief aim of the Summer Camp was to make the students aware of the new method of prayer and teach them how to pray, to introduce them to Bible study, to enable them to participate meaningfully in the Mass, to develop their personality through their participation in various activities including games, singing and action songs as well as quiz competition. Students participating in the camp were provided lunch.
The valedictory function of the three daylong Summer Camp was held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 4pm in St. Lawrence PU College Hall. Fr. Paul Sequeira and Fr. Lancy Saldanha along with the four brothers were on the dais. After the prayer song, Flency D’Almeida welcomed the gathering. Sarah D’Souza and Preema D’Souza narrated their experience in the camp.
In their message, Fr. Paul Sequeira and Fr. Lancy Saldanha complimented the students for participating in large numbers in the Summer Camp in which they learnt many useful things. They also appreciated the efforts taken by the Brothers in conducting the camp in an efficient manner. The appealed the students that whatever good things that they had learnt in the camp, especially the way they were taught to pray should be taken by them to their homes and encourage their family members to adopt the new method of praying.
In his address, Br. Mahesh D’Souza congratulated the students for whole heartedly and enthusiastically participating in the Summer Camp. He especially thanked Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, the parish priest of Belle for supporting the Summer Camp and Fr. Paul Sequeira for providing the PU College Hall and visiting the camp daily and interacting with the students. He also thanked Fr. Lancy Saldanha for guiding the Brothers in conducting the camp in a meaningful manner.
Smitha ‘Souza compeered the programme and Joswin D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks.
