SMKC Dubai Presented an amazing Konkan Showers 2012 to mark the Decennial Celebration

Dubai, 28 April 2012: It was indeed a most memorable day in the history of St. Mary’s Konkan Community (SMKC) which put up a wonderful spectacular Wilfy Nite for ever to be remembered.
The grand Konkan Showers 2012 with Wilfy Nite was indeed a super hit show wherein a large crowd enjoyed the magnificent show held at Al Nasr Leisureland in Dubai.
To begin with beautiful Co-host Anitha D’Souza welcomed the audience and highlighted a few achievements especially in the field of charity works and community services rendered by SMKC and thereafter requested committee members Bhaskar to invoke God’s blessings with a short prayer. She then introduced the prominent emcee of the day Leslie Rego who has travelled along with Wilfy Troupe just for the occasion. He fondly remembered the legend and his contribution, his love to Konkani community and service to his people till his last breath. He said “Six years ago I had attended the SMKC program at the same venue along with Wilfy Rebimbus but sad and unimaginable to note that today he is not more with us - but his legacy will continue and he is always with us and will remain forever.
Leslie then invited Wilfy’s daughter Veena Pais and son Vishwas for the introduction song: Ami Mog Kello Sangitacho and followed by Konkan Myna Meena Rebimbus sang Sausaranth Asa Kiten in her beautiful God given golden voice.
Wilfy’s new CD 42 volume was released during a short break by Mr. Michael D’Souza (MD Dunes Apartments and his son) along with SMKC Committee members.
Formal function was carried out by Ms. Veronica Rego (President SMKC) and briefed on Konkan Showers achiivements, successes from the humble beginning since 2002 with a simple slogan “ Leadership Through Service “ and thanked all SMKC members who have rendered their continuous and self-less service for the Konkani showers through out. Those who were with SMKC for 10 years were honoured for their distinguished service through out the ten years. SMKC Also remembered all the key members of the SMKC for the continuous service and all were felicitated with mementos.
To mark the decennial occasion a SMKC Decennial cake was cut joined by all the SMKC members and at the same time a brief message from Bishop of Mangalore Dr. Aloysious Paul D’Souza was displayed on a large LCD screen. HE Bishop Alousious wished SMKC members all success and thanked them for their service to the community esp. for their financial assistance for the education fund which is established in Mangalore for the educational needs of those who can’t afford to educate.
The entertainment program followed continuously entertaining the ever eager Wilfy’s fans starting with a famous dancing troupe from Dubai OCEAN KIDS presented beautiful dance for a song DISCO by Veena Pais. In the second song Vishwas remembered his dad in a lovely dedicated song to him: Adle Moje Dis.. brought tears in everyone’s eyes. Konkan Kalashri Claude D’Souza rendered lovely fast number Zuvanna to a thunderous applause.
Emcee Leslie introduced the famous Mangalorean comedians Dolla and Mellu and they entertained with their stand up rib tickling comedy at every break.
A lovely dancing number Ye Moga by Vishwas and Babita Pinto wonderfully presented along with dance by Ocean kids. Another song “Bobby” a scintillating old love number was sang wonderfully by Dubai based singer Ratan Castelino followed by Veena Pais sang Moja Kudintlya Shirani an all time old hit.
During a short break Auction was held for raising fund for charity causes and one the philanthropist Mr. Walter Pereira donated Dhs. 10,000/- for a gift package worth Dh. 7000/- Dirhams. Leslie and the organizing committee thanked him for his generosity.
In the second session Babita Pinto emotionally rendered: Bapaichea Manak which was written by Wilfy’s daughter Veena Pais in memory of her dad. Then followed dance by Ocean kids again for a lovely dance number Nach Moja Bhangara by Vishwas & Veena. The Kutmachem Nav Sanganaka a special song by Prem and Babita dedicated to girls on inter-caste marriages which cautioned young girls not to spoil their family name. Once again super hit old number Vanita Vandana Shalini was beautifully sung by Vishwas Rebimbus. Konkan Myna was once again on the stage for wonderful number Chilipili Suknnyano for a wonderfully presented dance by Ocean kids once again. Babita Pinto rendered another super hit fast number Moja Khaliz Mogan Budlam….to a thunderous applause. “Monica” a dance form song was presented beautifully by trio Vishwas, Prem and Claude. This was followed by lovely Goan-mangie mix Aya-Mest by Vishwas and Babitha. Kushi Zata Sangon Atam Bori Khobar… by Claude enthralled the audience. Vishwas and Babita presented slow waltz dance number Ani Maka Na Kai Unne.. and Udkuloro re Bhudkulo Prem and Claude presented beautifully.
Lesley Rego invoked vote of thanks for all the sponsors for their commitment for the good cause and support artists and audience for attending it very large numbers and making one of the most successful event. He then invited the audience to dance to a few waltz numbers by Meena one of the oldies of Wilfy “Suryo Budon” number was enjoyed by audience and Vishwas continued with a best of the oldies from Movie Mog ani Maipas Mog Kitlo Ashellom for which more audience joined for a waltz dance and grand finale the BAILA DANCE by all Wilfy troupes for which the dancing floor was packed with dancers and enjoyed a magnificent numbers of Baila. SMKC once again proved that they are masters in organizing this type of grand cultural events and they are best in providing complete entertainment to the community. It was indeed a most memorable, magnificent and wonderful show by KONKAN SHOWERS 2012 to be remembered for a very very long time to come.
