Moodubelle, 25 March 2012: On his maiden visit to Moodubelle following his thumping victory in the recently concluded Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by-poll, Jayaprakash Hegde was given overwhelming welcome at Moodubelle in the course of his victory tour on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 8.30 pm.
In fact local Congress leaders and workers had been waiting for Hegde at Naalku Beedhi since 6.30 pm as there was information that he would proceed from Karakala to Moodubelle. There was a plan to organize rally from Naalku Beedhi to Moodubelle. However, as Hegde who was in Hebri took the route of Hiriadka-Pernankila to Moodubelle, the eagerly waiting Congress workers were asked to proceed to Moodubelle.
On reaching Moodubelle at 8.30 pm, Jayaprakash Hegde was received by the local Congress leaders-Henry Alva, Mrs. Ida Gibba DSouza and other leaders by offering him garlands. Soon after Jayaprakash Hegde along with the people gathered entered the church premises and paid homage to St. Lawrence in front of the church for his victory.
In a stage programme organized at the residence of Henry Alva, the Local Congress Committee President, following welcome address by Henry Alva, Jayaprakash Hegde was honoured by Isac Alva, the oldest Congress member of Belle.
Addressing the gathering, Jayaprakash Hegde thanked all the local Congress leaders and workers for their hard and dedicated work which was greatly responsible for his resounding victory in the by-poll.
Thereafter, Jayaprakash Hegde personally felicitated a number of local leaders and volunteers who had canvassed for support to him.Raghuschandranath, Karkala Taluk Block Congress President compeered the programme and Harish Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
Following the programme over thousand people were served with dinner.
