Moodubelle, 05 Mar 2012: The newly erected Stations of the Cross in the premises of St. Antony’s Church in Kuntalnagar were blessed and inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Aloysius P. D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore during the pastoral visit on Sunday, March 4, 2012.
On his arrival at 3.30 pm, the Bishop was warmly welcomed by the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Jerome Monteiro, vice president of the parish pastoral council-Valerian Mathais and secretary Theodore Mendonca in the presence of a large number of parishioners at the main entrance of the church near the main road. Thereafter, the Bishop was taken in a grand procession to the church.
On this occasion, the Bishop blessed and inaugurated the Stations of the Cross built around the church premises. He also Honoured the donors of the Stations of the Cross by presenting them candles.
The Bishop concelebrated the Holy Eucharist. In his homily, the Bishop recalled the passion and sufferings of Christ and made an appeal to the parishioners to live a life of sacrifice and dedication based on the teachings of Christ.
Twenty-six candidates were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation by the Bishop.
Thereafter, the Bishop held meetings with the members of various associations of the parish and gave them spiritual advice.
The parish priest thanked all those who had contributed towards the development of the parish Rev.Fr. Ritesh Rodrigues- secretary to the Bishop and Rev. Fr. Maxim Pinto (OFM-Cap)- Director Assisi Nilaya were present during the pastoral visit. Br. Nelson Pais Conducted the Liturgical singing.
On Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 4.30 pm, there will be devotion of the Way of the Cross at Kuntalnagar church premises . Many parishioners from the Udupi Deanery were expected to be present for this unique Way of the Cross. Episcopal Vicar of Udupi, Rev. Dr. Baptist Menezes, Rev. Fr. Frederick Mascarenhas, Dean of Udupi Deaners and parish priests of Manipal, Perampally, Kalmady,Udyavara,Katpadi,Yermal,Moodubelle and Pamboor are expected to be present for the Way of the Cross.
