125th Anniversary of the foundation of the Diocese of Mangalore celebrated with grandeur

Mangalore, 11 Feb 2012: The valedictory religious function of the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the Diocese of Mangalore was celebrated in the Rosario Cathedral Ground, in Mangalore on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 4 pm with a solemn Eucharistic celebration concelebrated by Rev. Dr. Savio Hon Tai-fai (SDB), Secretary, , Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Vatican, Rome. . As many as 18 bishops, 425 priests concelebrated  the mass. Thousands of  people from different parishes of the diocese who arrived in special buses were part  of the grand religious celebration.

 

 

Following the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, stage programme was organized which was presided over by Very Rev. Dr. Savio Hon Tai-fai (SDB). Rev. Dr. Oswald Cardinal Gracias, archbishop of Bombay was the chief guest and Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore was the guest of honour. Oscar Fernandes, member of the Rajya Sabha, VS Acharya and UT Kahader were also present for the programme.

 

Zallok, a cultural programme was presented as part of the programme that enthralled the people gathered.

 

The theme of the celebration  was “You children will become the instruments of your salvation.”
