Abu Dhabi, 21 Jan 2012: Mangalore Konkans Ladies team from Dubai lifted the KSSM Trophie in style beating their arch rivals Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha in a marathon long final game held at Abu Dhabi Indian School Ground. The team from India lifts the men’s trophy beating Konkans Dubai in very well fought third set.
Koosamma Shambu Shetty Memorial Throw Ball Tournament is held every year in memory of late Koosamma Shambu Shetty mother of Dr. B.R. Shetty, Patron UAE Kannadigas on Gulf level. In total 9 ladies Throw Ball teams and eight Gents Throw Ball teams from U.A.E. Bahrain and India participated in this very popular tournament in the region. The KSSM 2012 tournament was conducted in association with Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha under the able leadership of Mr. Sarvotham Shetty (President) in the presence of large gatherings and participants.

The inauguration of the tournament took place around 9:00am by Ms. Seema Shetty (Daughter of Dr. B.R. Shetty) releasing colourful balloons along with team leaders. The morning league matches began with Seema Shetty and Sudheer Kumar Shetty officially inaugurating the matches.
On completion of league matches the Mangalore Konkans, Bunts Dubai, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and Canarites Dubai ladies teams reached semi-finals. In the men’s session, India Team, Konkans Dubai, Bunts Dubai and Mangalore Konkans reached the semi-finals.
After a long and exiting battle between these teams Mangalore Konkans & Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha managed to get thru to the finals & in men’s team India team and Konkans Dubai reached the finals.
Well, the finals of ladies match between arch rivals Mangalore Konkans and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha almost all the tournaments held in the region. It was the prestige for both the teams to re-claim the trophy from each other and really played a close thrilling match which was watched by supporters of both teams and the participants of all the teams. Finally Mangalore Konkans managed to grab the points from Karnataka Sangha at 15-12, 8-15, 15-8. Men’s teams India Men Vs. Konkans Dubai also fought for the supremacy and finally India team defeated Konkans Dubai after a long battle 13-15, 15-13, 15-8.
The prize distribution ceremony was held soon after the finals. Mr. Sarvotham Shetty invited all the guests presented to the Prize Distribution area namely Ms. C. Shetty (wife of Dr. B.R. Shetty), Mr. Binay Shetty (Son) Ms.Neema Shetty (Daugher), Ms. Seema Shetty (Daughter) & Master Aman Shard Shetty (Grandson), Mr. Sudheer Kumar Shetty(COO UAExchange Centre, Mr. Richard D’Souza (Treasurer, Board of Governors ADIS).
The prizes for those excelled in the matches were given away by Ms. C. Shetty & Mr. Richard D’Souza for Ms. Smitha Chauta (Best All rounder Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sanga), Best Smasher (Ms. Nancy Quadras (Mangalore Konkans), Ms. Shakeela Bandari (Best Defender – Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha). Media representatives were also recognized. Grandson of Dr. B.R. Shetty presented mementos for them.
The trophies for winners of finals i.e. Mangalore Konkans and India Men’s teams were given away by Ms. Seema Shetty and Mr. Richard D’Souza. All players of finals team were also recognized and mementos were given to them by Master Aman Sharat Shetty.
