Moodubelle, 26 Decembeer 2011: The fifth Annual NSS Camp of Dr. A V Baliga Institute of Social Sciences And Rural Management, Haradi, Brahmavara was inaugurated in the Jnanganga PU College, Nellikatte on Sunday, December 25, 2011 at 3.30 pm. The inaugural function was presided over Mrs. Swapna Ganesh-Principal of Dr. A V Baliga Institute.
The seven days long NSS Camp was inaugurated by Prof. K. Chandrashekar Hebbar-the former Principal of the Institute, by lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries including Prakash KS-General Manager of the General Insurance Employees Cooperative Society and the Convener of the Jnanganga PU College, Suresh Shetty-Treasurer of the Jnanganga PU College, Dr. P V Bhandary-Director of Dr. A V Baliga Institute, Prof. U L Bhat-Principal of Jnanganga PU College, Navinkumar-Chief NSS Camp Officer and NSS student leaders-Anil Kumar and Shyamala.
Prof. K. Chandrashekhar Hebbar was honoured by Dr. P V Bhandary by presenting his fruits and memento for his service to the Dr. A V Baliga Institute as its funder president. Speaking at this occasion, Prof. Hebbar said that the students are fortunate to have their camp in the picturesque village of Moodubelle where they can learn lot many things. Whatever discipline and knowledge they acquire should be of great use in their future life and career.
In his message, Dr. P V Bhandary emphasised on the qualities of attitude, skill and knowledge and said that it is not the mark sheet that is predominant in one’s life but the threefold qualities which he elaborated. Referring to the programmes chalked out for the camp, Dr. Bhandary said that by laying emphasis on health awareness the camp would gain immensely by experts who will be speaking and guiding the NSS volunteers.
Principal U L Bhat welcomed the NSS volunteers of Dr. A V Baliga Institute to the Jnanganga PU College for the camp and assured all facilities to their stay and social work. Prabhakar KS and Suresh Shetty also wished well to the students during their camping days.
Mrs. Swapna Ganesh, in her message stressed on the fact that whatever discipline that the NSS volunteers imbibe in the camp should be a guideline for them in their day-to-day life even after the camp.
Navin Kumar, the Chief NSS Officer welcomed the guests, Rajendra Baikadi proposed the vote of thanks and Sukanya compeered the programme.
Besides undertaking social work in the Jnanganga PU College premises, the NSS volunteers during the seven days long camp will be attending various awareness programmes such as social, general and mental health, environment and personality development. Eminent persons and experts from different fields will interact with the NSS volunteers during these days. Besides, the students will present street plays highlighting the evil effects of alcoholism and other socially relevant issues.
