About the Album:
Under the banner 3 Souzas, Marian D’souza and Anil D’souza from Pernal and Wilfred R. D’souza from Pangla parishes have brought out “Tuje Charanni”, a devotional Konkani audio album consisting 12 scintillating hymns. This is the first album presented by laity in the entire Shirva Varado.
These devotional songs are traditional in nature, bhajan type, with lyrics from all the three. However, most of the lyrics are written by Anil, who is basically a poet, who has contributed his lyrics to a number of devotional albums already produced in Konkani language. He has also published his collection of poems.
Most of the tunes are composed by Marian, who has a passion for Konkani music and was the inspiration and sponsor of the First Global Konkani Music Awards - 2009organized by Mand Sobhann.Besides, he has promoted and sponsored many budding Konkani music talents like Roshan Belman, VV Santos, Kevin Misquith and others. Wilfred is a fine writer of both prose and poetry and has published books of his poems and writings in Konkani language.
The music has been beautifully programmed by Roshan D’souza, Anjelore, who is well known when it comes to arranging music for both devotional and other music albums in Konkani language. It is noteworthy to mention that he won the coveted Best Music Composer Award in 2010 in Global Konakni Music Awards, organized by Mand Sobhann.
The music has been arranged by Joel Pereira, who needs no introduction. He is the finest musician in the Mangalorean community. He has blended the traditional music with a touch of Indian musical instruments such as Sitar,Tabla, Flute, etc. The final result is astounding. He also figured in the Top 3 nominees for the Best Music arranger category in the Global Konkani Music Awards 2010.
The songs have been beautifully sung by well- known singers of Mangalore like Dr. Prashanth Raj, Babita Pinto, Ivy D’Souza, Shilpa Cutinha, Anil D’sa, Priya Menezes, Hariet Braganza and Robin Sequeira.Like Roshan and Joel, Priya Menezes has also figured in the top 3 nominees for the best female singer’s award in the Global Konkani Music Awards 2010. An attempt has been made to foster and support new singing talents like, Priya, Robin and Hariet. All of them have done justice to their task and have given their best to this album.
The recording of the songs was done at Cad Centre, Mangalore by Shinoy Joseph. Mixing and Mastering was done at Rajshree Studio,Calicut.
The CD cover was beautifully designed by Joachim Pinto, Vamanjoor.
