Kuwait, 14 November 2011: United Mangaloreans Kuwait – UMK’s dream of helping the underprivileged turned into reality for the third time in row, during ‘Fun-Filled Evening 2011’, a successful show staged to generate funds for a charitable cause, presented before a packed audience at the American International School, Maidan Hawally here on 7th October 2011. The event comprised melodious Konkani/Tulu songs, foot-tapping dances and the hilarious Konkani drama ‘Sangon Mugdana’.
The proceeds IRs. 14,47,652/= (Indian Rupees Fourteen lakhs Forty Seven Thousand Six Hundred Fifty Two only) in all, was contributed towards ‘White doves’, a shelter for homeless destitute in Mangalore, Karnataka, India.
The amount in the form of a cheque was handed over to Mrs. Corine Rasquinha of White Doves, Mangalore, recently by UMK Team Fr. Vincent Victor Menezes (Parish Priest, St. Rita church, Cassia), Ronson Saldanha, Lloyd Pinto, Victor Saldanha, Roque Lewis, Philomena Saldanha, Vrinda Lewis and Renwick Lewis visited both the White Doves Homes in Mangalore.
Mrs. Rasquinha thanked UMK and its generous supporters.
To recall, UMK has contributed around IRS 15 Lacs to two needy organizations in India, in the past two years, raised during the two successful shows in 2009 and 2010.
