Belman, 04 November 2011: Celebrations were held in St. Joseph High School Belman on the occasion of Kannada Rajyotsava on Tuesday 01st November 2011. In the program held in School Auditorium, Govt. P.U. College Principal Janardhana Bhat, Kanjarakatte Entrepreneur Nelson Nazareth, Herald Mathias, Jagadish Shivapura of Junior Rajkumar fame, Reymond Tellis and Herald Saldanha were felicitated by Belman Church Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Lawrence D’Souza and Bangalore Entrepreneur Rocky D’Silva, which was organized by Old Students Association.
Speaking on the occasion Fr. Lawrence D’Souza said that, Kannada is a rich language and eight Jnanapeeta awards have been bagged by the Kannada literature. We have to be proud of our Kannada land and the language and also together with that we need to continuously work towards preserving and growing it, he said.
Old Students Association President and also Karkala Taluk Panchayath Member Xavier D’mello presided over the function. In his presidential address he briefed the achievements of the association and declared the future plans. Association Hon. President Gregory Menezes welcomed the guests and the gathering. Janardhana Bhat spoke on behalf of the persons felicitated. Secretary Janet D’mello read the annual and financial report.
Other guests and dignitaries present on the dias were; Belman Lioness Gretta D’Souza, Higher Primary School Headmistress Sr. Monica, High School Headmistress Renilda Pereira and Entrepreneur Rocky D’Silva. Teacher B. Pundalika Marathe compeered the program. Later Jagadish Shivapura of Junior Rajkumar fame presented the Kannada “Geetha Rasamanjari” program.
