Padubelle, 03 November 2011: Kapu Circle Level Primary School Sports Meet 2011 – 12 was held on Wednesday 02nd November 2011, at Sri Narayana Guru English Medium School, Padubelle. The sports meet was jointly organized by Public Education Department Udupi District and Sri Narayana Guru English Medium School Padubelle. The inaugural program began at 10.00 am with the prayers by the students and then sports oath by Student Leader and also School Champion Vishwambhara Bhat.
Devadas Hebbar – President of Taluk Panchayath received the guard of honour of the march past by the students. National Athlete Bola Akshata Poojary inaugurated the sports meet by lighting the sports flame. Former Minister Vasantha V. Saliyan unfurled the sports flag. Both Akshata Poojary and Vasantha Saliyan released white doves marking the beginning of the sports meet.
The program was presided over by Vasantha V. Saliyan who is the Former Minister and also the President of Billava Association Mumbai. Vice President of the program was National Athlete Bola Akshata Poojary a power lifter who has participated in many National and International competitions and also won medals. In December she will be representing India in the power lifting competition in England.
Chief Guests and other dignitaries present on the dias are Devadas Hebbar – President of Taluk Panchayath, Jay Shankar – Vice President of Billava Association Mumbai, Shivaji Suvarna – Secretary of School Management Committee, Ida Gibba D’Souza – Member of Jilla Panchayath, Kurkalu Dinakar Shetty – President of Aided School Teachers Association Udupi and also President of Teachers Co-Operative Bank Udupi, Vsantha Shetty – Udupi Zone Education Officer, Basavaraj – Physical Education Officer, Naveen Shetty – Physical Teachers Association President and Usha – Headmistress of Kannada Medium School.
Speaking on the occasion Devadas Hebbar said that, each student who is participating in this sports meet have his or her own celebration. The winners and all the participants are the charioteers who are pulling this sports chariot further to the next level. He called upon all the athletes to participate in this sports meet with good sportsperson spirit and follow the good sports tradition with respect. In future this ground will have the facility to conduct Taluk level spots meet. Billava Association Mumbai is giving more importance to sports activities, said Hebbar.
Vasantha Saliyan spoke on the occasion and wished good luck to the participants of all the schools. In this sports meet total 42 schools participated. The program was compeered by Poornima. Jinaraja C. Salian – Administrative Officer and Principal of Sri Narayana Guru English Medium School welcomed the guests and the gathering. Veena Nayak proposed vote of thanks.
