Moodubelle, 01 November 2011: The 56th Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with great enthusiasm in St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 9.30 am to 12 noon. The first part of the Rajyotsava programme was organised in the college ground which started with the hoisting of the Karnataka Rajyotsava flag followed by competitions for the high school and PU College students inside the College Hall.
During the school-college assembly at 9.30 am, the senior most teacher of the high school, Mrs. Hilda Aranha along with the principal, Fr. Paul Sequeira hoisted the Rjyotsava flag. In her message to the students, Mrs. Hilda Aranha emphasised on the fact that the youth of today will be the future of the country and made an appeal to the students to love their mother country and their state of birth, that is, Karnataka. They asked them to be responsible students and equally responsible citizens of this great country.
Following the flag hoisting in the ground students trooped inside the hall where competitions were held in two sections for the students of the high school in elocution and individual singing. The topic of the speech was about the history and culture of Karnataka. Similarly, the theme of the singing was also about the greatness of Karnataka.
For the PU College students there was composite competition spread over for ten minutes during which they could present speech, group songs, dance or skits. All the six divisions of PU College participated in the competition.

High School Section: 9th and 10th standards:
1. Elocution competition: First place: Jenitha -9th B; Second place: Shriraksha-10th B and Third place: Arathi-9th B.
2. Singing competition: First place: Jenitha-9th B; Second place: Rakshita-10th B
High School Section: 8th standard:
1. Elocution competition: First place: Vinyas Pai-8th A; Second place: Abhishek-8th B; Third place: Sharol Alva-8th A and Sonika-8th B
2. Singing competition: First place:Shobit-8th B; Second place: Shrilatha-8th B; Third Place: Sushma-8th B and Nisha-8th A
