Mumbai, 27 October 2011: Zealous Konkani music lovers thronged to Wilfy Nite Show held at Prabodhan Thakrey Hall Borivli organised by Canara Konkani Welfare Association Borivli (Regd). The show started at 8.15pm and ended at midnight. In spite of odd timings and Diwali crackers all over, the music lovers filled the 1100 capacity ac hall.
The programme started with the short and sweet stage programme. Auxiliary Bishop of Mumbai Most Rev Dr Perceval Fernandes was the chief guest. Priest of Church of Immaculate Conception Fr. Vincent Barboza Borivli, sponsor Gilbert D’Lima, Chairman of the association Albert Wilfred D’Souza, Vice chairman George D’Souza were present at the dais. Secretary Charles D’Cunha compered the stage programme.
During the programme the bishop honoured Konkan Maina Meena Rebimbus with shawl, fruits, flowers and a momento and said that he feel proud to honour such a great lady. Mrs Meena accepted this honour with a humble heart and expressed her views through a melodious song.
Leslie Rego beautifully anchored the entire programme. Legend singer Wilfy’s children Veena and Vishwas called their father bring back the music tempo he created through the song "Porot Ek Pavttim". both of them expressed their views on how they fall in love with Konkani music through the song "Mog Kelo Sangitacho". Bereaved wife Meen Rebimbus expressed her love and relationship with her husband and wished eternal peace to his soul through the song "Tum Maka Hanv Tuka" composed by Veena Rebimbus. Vishwas Rebimbus and Claud DSouza expressed their love with the flower girls Babita Pinto and Charleen Rebimbus through the song "Fulabai". Ivan Sequeira and Veena Rebimbus Pais expressed their love sentiments on a moon light a sentimetal song "Chan’nyachya Ratim". Munita Veigas expressed her innocent love through the song "Mhojem Kaliz Bul’lam" with a very melodious voice. "Lungi" song presented by Ivan Sequiera, Prem Lobo and Claud D’Souza explained the changing fashion among girls and gave open challenge to them to start a fashion of "Kachchem".
Vishwas Rebimbus and Babita Pinto suggested to follow a decent dress code while going to the church through the song "Matembor Pangor Dorina". Ivan Sequeira expressed his love through the song "Marina". Vishwas Rebimbus showed the illusion of flying through the song "Suknne". Prem Lobo, Claud DSouza payed a very rich tribute to the SEVEN legend Konkani starts, singers, artists, dramitists, Novelist who lost their life in the year 2010 with a song "2010 isvi" composed by Veena Rebibus. Claude D’Souza presented a dance song "Zuvanna". Babita Pinto and Prem Kumar Lobo presented the song "Kutmachem Nanv Sangonaka" gave a lesson that there is no use repenting after a great fall. Veena, Ivan and Vishwas presented the dance song "Nach Moga Nach". "Johny Johny" sung by Prem, Claud, Babita and Munita and enacted by Clarine Cleona, Anil Saldanha, Alwyn Sequera and Clinsly was very successful in cathing the attention of the entire audience. Babita Pinto expressed her love through the song "Mhoje Kaliz Mogar Podlam". "Kirgi Bazu" song presented by Vishwas, Munita and group showed the rich Konkani culture that is extinct today. "Konkani Amchi Bhas" song presented by the entire troupe gave a call to preserve our language and culture.
Leslie Rego and Dolla brought the entire crowd on their toes through their hilarious skits namely "Budvont Bapoi" (Wise Father), "Mashinar Hat" (Hand on the Machine), "Baylechem Fone" (Phone from the lady), Parachute and Manglaore to Goa distance. Stanzy Alfred, Chris Misquith, Felita Fonseca and Renita Lobo presented dance. Shabaridas (Tabla), Pitambar (Rythem Pad), Merwyn Pinto (Bass Guitar), Joswin Pinto (lead guitar), Teo Alvares (Trumphet) and Pappan (Keyboard) contributed instrumentals. Christi of Chris Electronics arranged the sounds and lightings.
