Udupi, 27 October 2011: “Marriage is not a matter of give and take. It is holy bond. Husband and wife are complementary to each other. They protect each other. When they are aware of their set parameters, duties and responsibilities, a contended family life is created.” These words of advice were given by Hude Jamia College Principal Maulana Adam. He was speaking as the chief guest on “Model Family” at a symposium on “Happy Family and Rights and Duties of Husband and Wife” jointly organized by Udupi Nayerkere Masjid and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind at the Masjid premises. People from Udupi and surrounding areas attended the lectures.
He explained and enlightened the audience on the rights and duties of married couples. Another chief guest, Alima Nafisa Fathima, said that when a person is unaware of the parameters of his rights and duties, there is no difference between an animal and a human being. Ultimately, love for one’s mother or wife, respect for the elders, affection for the kids, emotional bonds for the family come to naught like a currency note without any monetary value. He will yearn for peace and tranquility all his life in spite of having all the worldly comforts at home. She exhorted the participants to abide by the divine guidance to achieve lasting peace and tranquility in life. Anything other than this is a colourful show and nothing else, she said.
Udupi branch Jamaat president Mohammed Marakada gave introductory speech. Nayerkere Masjid President Mohammed Zakaria Assadi was present. Shaukat Assadi opened the event with Quran recitation. Firoze Manna proposed vote of thanks and Manna Mansoor compeered.
